Every year, the Seedstars team roams the globe in search of the most promising seed-stage tech ventures in emerging markets. The goal is to provide early stage startups with knowledge, promotion, and financial support so that they can grow their companies and make an impact in their region. For the Online Seedstars Summit, 44 finalists have been selected to compete; from which only 1 will be chosen by a jury panel as the Seedstars Global Winner and be awarded 500,000 USD in investment!
The DOEN Foundation supports pioneers who work hard to establish a greener, more socially-inclusive, and more creative society. The Foundation’s aim is to add to the transition of a green and innovative economy where inspiring entrepreneurs contribute to a better world for people and the planet. Currently, nearly two-thirds of Africa’s land is degraded, which hinders sustainable economic development and resilience to climate change. As a result, Africa has the largest restoration opportunity of any continent: more than 700 million hectares (1.7 billion acres) of degraded forest landscapes that can be restored. DOEN and Seedstars created a challenge that aims to find and award the best tech(-enabled) solutions in the land restoration and land degradation space.

Despite a lot of technological progress, even today most rural and low-income communities are especially disadvantaged when it comes to accessing and benefiting from educational services and innovation. This is why TRECC and the School of Management Fribourg is partnering with Seedstars in search of the best education startup to award 50K USD including the Seedstars Growth Program to help him/her expand in new markets and make a bigger impact.
